 هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَیِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ 

ۚ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنکُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْیَصُمْهُ ۖ

 وَمَن کَانَ مَرِیضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَیَّامٍ أُخَرَ 

ۗ یُرِیدُ اللَّهُ بِکُمُ الْیُسْرَ وَلَا یُرِیدُ بِکُمُ الْعُسْرَ 

وَلِتُکْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُکَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاکُمْ 

وَلَعَلَّکُمْ تَشْکُرُونَ 

[٢:١٨٥]

 (۲) وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنَ الْقَرْیَتَیْنِ عَظِیمٍ ﴿الزخرف: ٣١﴾   

Also, they say: "Why is not this Qur'an sent down to some leading man in either of the two (chief) cities?" (43: 31)

In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves). (2: 10)

وَلِتُکْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُکَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاکُمْ 

وَلَعَلَّکُمْ تَشْکُرُونَ 

[٢:١٨٥]

 (روزه، در چند روز معدودِ) ماهِ رمضان است؛ ماهی که قرآن، برای راهنمایی مردم، و نشانه‌های هدایت، و فرق میان حق و باطل، در آن نازل شده است. پس آن کس از شما که در ماه رمضان در حضر باشد، روزه بدارد! و آن کس که بیمار یا در سفر است، روزهای دیگری را به جای آن، روزه بگیرد! خداوند، راحتی شما را می‌خواهد، نه زحمت شما را! هدف این است که این روزها را تکمیل کنید؛ و خدا را بر اینکه شما را هدایت کرده، بزرگ بشمرید؛ باشد که شکرگزاری کنید!  ماہ رمضان وہ (مقدس) مہینہ ہے جس میں قرآن نازل کیا گیا جو تمام انسانوں کے لئے ہدایت ہے اور اس میں راہنمائی اور حق و باطل میں امتیاز کی کھلی ہوئی نشانیاں ہیں جو اس (مہینہ) میں (وطن میں) حاضر ہو (یا جو اسے پائے) تو وہ روزے رکھے اور جو بیمار ہو یا سفر میں ہو تو اتنے ہی روزے کسی اور وقت میں (رکھے)۔ اللہ تمہاری آسانی و آسائش چاہتا ہے تمہاری تنگی و سختی نہیں چاہتا اور یہ بھی (چاہتا ہے) کہ تم (روزوں کی) تعداد مکمل کرو۔ اور اس (احسان) پر کہ اس نے تمہیں سیدھا راستہ دکھایا تم اس کی کبریائی و بڑائی کا اظہار کرو۔ تاکہ تم شکر گزار (بندے) بن جاؤ۔ [آیۃ اللہ محمد حسین نجفی] 

 Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful. [Abdullah Yusuf Ali]

 (۱) یَا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا کُتِبَ عَلَیْکُمُ الصِّیَامُ کَمَا کُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِینَ مِن قَبْلِکُمْ لَعَلَّکُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴿البقرة: ١٨٣﴾   

O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,- (2: 183) 

 (۲) فَکُلِی وَاشْرَبِی وَقَرِّی عَیْنًا فَإِمَّا تَرَیِنَّ مِنَ الْبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِی إِنِّی نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ أُکَلِّمَ الْیَوْمَ إِنسِیًّا ﴿مریم: ٢٦﴾   

"So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, 'I have vowed a fast to (Allah) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being'" (19: 26) 

 (۳) فَمَن لَّمْ یَجِدْ فَصِیَامُ شَهْرَیْنِ مُتَتَابِعَیْنِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن یَتَمَاسَّا فَمَن لَّمْ یَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّینَ مِسْکِینًا ذَٰلِکَ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَتِلْکَ حُدُودُ اللَّهِ وَلِلْکَافِرِینَ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمٌ ﴿المجادلة: ٤﴾   

And if any has not (the wherewithal), he should fast for two months consecutively before they touch each other. But if any is unable to do so, he should feed sixty indigent ones, this, that ye may show your faith in Allah and His Messenger. Those are limits (set by) Allah. For those who reject (Him), there is a grievous Penalty. (58: 4) 

 (۴) أَیَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ فَمَن کَانَ مِنکُم مَّرِیضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَیَّامٍ أُخَرَ وَعَلَى الَّذِینَ یُطِیقُونَهُ فِدْیَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْکِینٍ فَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَیْرًا فَهُوَ خَیْرٌ لَّهُ وَأَن تَصُومُوا خَیْرٌ لَّکُمْ إِن کُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿البقرة: ١٨٤﴾   

(Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew. (2: 184)

"Allah!- there is no god but He!- Lord of the Throne Supreme!" (27: 26) 

 (۳) لَّٰکِنَّا هُوَ اللَّهُ رَبِّی وَلَا أُشْرِکُ بِرَبِّی أَحَدًا ﴿الکهف: ٣٨﴾   

"But (I think) for my part that He is Allah, My Lord, and none shall I associate with my Lord. (18: 38) 

 (۴) بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِیمِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿الإخلاص: ١﴾   

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; (112: 1) 

 (۵) فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِکُ الْحَقُّ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْکَرِیمِ ﴿المؤمنون: ١١٦﴾   

Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour! (23: 116) 

 (۶) قُلْ أَرُونِیَ الَّذِینَ أَلْحَقْتُم بِهِ شُرَکَاءَ کَلَّا بَلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ الْعَزِیزُ الْحَکِیمُ ﴿سبإ: ٢٧﴾   

Say: "Show me those whom ye have joined with Him as partners: by no means (can ye). Nay, He is Allah, the Exalted in Power, the Wise." (34: 27) 

 (۷) هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِی لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَالِمُ الْغَیْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِیمُ ﴿الحشر: ٢٢﴾   

Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- Who knows (all things) both secret and open; He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. (59: 22) 

 (۸) وَهُوَ اللَّهُ فِی السَّمَاوَاتِ وَفِی الْأَرْضِ یَعْلَمُ سِرَّکُمْ وَجَهْرَکُمْ وَیَعْلَمُ مَا تَکْسِبُونَ ﴿الأنعام: ٣﴾   

And He is Allah in the heavens and on earth. He knoweth what ye hide, and what ye reveal, and He knoweth the (recompense) which ye earn (by your deeds). (6: 3) 

 (۹) فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِیَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَیْهِ تَوَکَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِیمِ ﴿التوبة: ١٢٩﴾   

But if they turn away, Say: "Allah sufficeth me: there is no god but He: On Him is my trust,- He the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme!" (9: 129) 

 (۱۰) وَهُوَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِی الْأُولَىٰ وَالْآخِرَةِ وَلَهُ الْحُکْمُ وَإِلَیْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿القصص: ٧٠﴾   

And He is Allah: There is no god but He. To Him be praise, at the first and at the last: for Him is the Command, and to Him shall ye (all) be brought back. (28: 70) 

 (۱۱) لَّوْ أَرَادَ اللَّهُ أَن یَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا لَّاصْطَفَىٰ مِمَّا یَخْلُقُ مَا یَشَاءُ سُبْحَانَهُ هُوَ اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ ﴿الزمر: ٤﴾   

Had Allah wished to take to Himself a son, He could have chosen whom He pleased out of those whom He doth create: but Glory be to Him! (He is above such things.) He is Allah, the One, the Irresistible. (39: 4) 

 (۱۲) هُوَ اللَّهُ الْخَالِقُ الْبَارِئُ الْمُصَوِّرُ لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ یُسَبِّحُ لَهُ مَا فِی السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ الْعَزِیزُ الْحَکِیمُ ﴿الحشر: ٢٤﴾   

He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (59: 24) 

 (۱۳) هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِی لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِکُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَیْمِنُ الْعَزِیزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَکَبِّرُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا یُشْرِکُونَ ﴿الحشر: ٢٣﴾   

Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah! (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him. (59: 23) 

 (۱۴) قُلْ أَغَیْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْغِی رَبًّا وَهُوَ رَبُّ کُلِّ شَیْءٍ وَلَا تَکْسِبُ کُلُّ نَفْسٍ إِلَّا عَلَیْهَا وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّکُم مَّرْجِعُکُمْ فَیُنَبِّئُکُم بِمَا کُنتُمْ فِیهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ ﴿الأنعام: ١٦٤﴾   

Say: "Shall I seek for (my) Cherisher other than Allah, when He is the Cherisher of all things (that exist)? Every soul draws the meed of its acts on none but itself: no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. Your goal in the end is towards Allah: He will tell you the truth of the things wherein ye disputed." (6: 164)

 (۱) إِنَّمَا یَأْمُرُکُم بِالسُّوءِ وَالْفَحْشَاءِ وَأَن تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿البقرة: ١٦٩﴾   

For he commands you what is evil and shameful, and that ye should say of Allah that of which ye have no knowledge. (2: 169) 

 (۲) الَّذِینَ یَبْخَلُونَ وَیَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَمَن یَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِیُّ الْحَمِیدُ ﴿الحدید: ٢٤﴾   

Such persons as are covetous and commend covetousness to men. And if any turn back (from Allah's Way), verily Allah is Free of all Needs, Worthy of all Praise. (57: 24) 

 (۳) وَلَا یَأْمُرَکُمْ أَن تَتَّخِذُوا الْمَلَائِکَةَ وَالنَّبِیِّینَ أَرْبَابًا أَیَأْمُرُکُم بِالْکُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ ﴿آل‌عمران: ٨٠﴾   

Nor would he instruct you to take angels and prophets for Lords and patrons. What! would he bid you to unbelief after ye have bowed your will (To Allah in Islam)? (3: 80) 

 (۴) الشَّیْطَانُ یَعِدُکُمُ الْفَقْرَ وَیَأْمُرُکُم بِالْفَحْشَاءِ وَاللَّهُ یَعِدُکُم مَّغْفِرَةً مِّنْهُ وَفَضْلًا وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِیمٌ ﴿البقرة: ٢٦٨﴾   

The Evil one threatens you with poverty and bids you to conduct unseemly. Allah promiseth you His forgiveness and bounties. And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things. (2: 268) 

 (۵) وَلْتَکُن مِّنکُمْ أُمَّةٌ یَدْعُونَ إِلَى الْخَیْرِ وَیَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَیَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنکَرِ وَأُولَٰئِکَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ ﴿آل‌عمران: ١٠٤﴾   

Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity. (3: 104)
