 (۲) ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُونًا آخَرِینَ ﴿المؤمنون: ٤٢﴾   

Then We raised after them other generations. (23: 42) 

 (۳) وَکَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَحْسَنُ أَثَاثًا وَرِئْیًا ﴿مریم: ٧٤﴾   

But how many (countless) generations before them have we destroyed, who were even better in equipment and in glitter to the eye? (19: 74) 

 (۴) کَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوا وَّلَاتَ حِینَ مَنَاصٍ ﴿ص: ٣﴾   

How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! (38: 3) 

 (۵) أَلَمْ یَرَوْا کَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَیْهِمْ لَا یَرْجِعُونَ ﴿یس: ٣١﴾   

See they not how many generations before them we destroyed? Not to them will they return: (36: 31) 

 (۶) وَکَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَهُمْ رِکْزًا ﴿مریم: ٩٨﴾   

But how many (countless) generations before them have We destroyed? Canst thou find a single one of them (now) or hear (so much as) a whisper of them? (19: 98) 

 (۷) وَکَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِن بَعْدِ نُوحٍ وَکَفَىٰ بِرَبِّکَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِ خَبِیرًا بَصِیرًا ﴿الإسراء: ١٧﴾   

How many generations have We destroyed after Noah? and enough is thy Lord to note and see the sins of His servants. (17: 17) 

 (۸) وَکَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا فَنَقَّبُوا فِی الْبِلَادِ هَلْ مِن مَّحِیصٍ ﴿ق: ٣٦﴾   

But how many generations before them did We destroy (for their sins),- stronger in power than they? Then did they wander through the land: was there any place of escape (for them)? (50: 36) 

 (۹) أَفَلَمْ یَهْدِ لَهُمْ کَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ یَمْشُونَ فِی مَسَاکِنِهِمْ إِنَّ فِی ذَٰلِکَ لَآیَاتٍ لِّأُولِی النُّهَىٰ ﴿طه: ١٢٨﴾   

Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. (20: 128) 

 (۱۰) أَوَلَمْ یَهْدِ لَهُمْ کَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ یَمْشُونَ فِی مَسَاکِنِهِمْ إِنَّ فِی ذَٰلِکَ لَآیَاتٍ أَفَلَا یَسْمَعُونَ ﴿السجدة: ٢٦﴾   

Does it not teach them a lesson, how many generations We destroyed before them, in whose dwellings they (now) go to and fro? Verily in that are Signs: Do they not then listen? (32: 26) 

 (۱۱) قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِیتُهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عِندِی أَوَلَمْ یَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَکَ مِن قَبْلِهِ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةً وَأَکْثَرُ جَمْعًا وَلَا یُسْأَلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ ﴿القصص: ٧٨﴾   

He said: "This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge which I have." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed, before him, (whole) generations,- which were superior to him in strength and greater in the amount (of riches) they had collected? but the wicked are not called (immediately) to account for their sins. (28: 78) 

 (۱۲) فَلَوْلَا کَانَ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِن قَبْلِکُمْ أُولُو بَقِیَّةٍ یَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْفَسَادِ فِی الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا قَلِیلًا مِّمَّنْ أَنجَیْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا مَا أُتْرِفُوا فِیهِ وَکَانُوا مُجْرِمِینَ ﴿هود: ١١٦﴾   

Why were there not, among the generations before you, persons possessed of balanced good sense, prohibiting (men) from mischief in the earth - except a few among them whom We saved (from harm)? But the wrong-doers pursued the enjoyment of the good things of life which were given them, and persisted in sin. (11: 116) 

 (۱۳) أَلَمْ یَرَوْا کَمْ أَهْلَکْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّکَّنَّاهُمْ فِی الْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَکِّن لَّکُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا السَّمَاءَ عَلَیْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا الْأَنْهَارَ تَجْرِی مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَکْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا آخَرِینَ ﴿الأنعام: ٦﴾   

See they not how many of those before them We did destroy?- generations We had established on the earth, in strength such as We have not given to you - for whom We poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins We destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them). (6: 6)

فَقَالَ أَنبِئُونِی بِأَسْمَاءِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ إِن کُنتُمْ صَادِقِینَ ﴿البقرة: ٣١﴾   

And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: "Tell me the names of these if ye are right." (2: 31) 

 (۶) قَالَ یَا آدَمُ أَنبِئْهُم بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ فَلَمَّا أَنبَأَهُم بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ

قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّکُمْ إِنِّی أَعْلَمُ غَیْبَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

وَأَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا کُنتُمْ تَکْتُمُونَ ﴿البقرة: ٣٣﴾   

He said: "O Adam! Tell them their names."

 When he had told them, Allah said:

"Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth,

 and I know what ye reveal 

and what ye conceal?" (2: 33)

 (۲) یَا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا کُلُوا مِن طَیِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاکُمْ وَاشْکُرُوا لِلَّهِ إِن کُنتُمْ إِیَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ ﴿البقرة: ١٧٢﴾   

O ye who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah, if it is Him ye worship. (2: 172) 

 (۳) کُلُوا مِن طَیِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاکُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا فِیهِ فَیَحِلَّ عَلَیْکُمْ غَضَبِی وَمَن یَحْلِلْ عَلَیْهِ غَضَبِی فَقَدْ هَوَىٰ ﴿طه: ٨١﴾   

(Saying): "Eat of the good things We have provided for your sustenance, but commit no excess therein, lest My Wrath should justly descend on you: and those on whom descends My Wrath do perish indeed! (20: 81) 

 (۴) وَلَقَدْ آتَیْنَا بَنِی إِسْرَائِیلَ الْکِتَابَ وَالْحُکْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّیِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِینَ ﴿الجاثیة: ١٦﴾   

We did aforetime grant to the Children of Israel the Book the Power of Command, and Prophethood; We gave them, for Sustenance, things good and pure; and We favoured them above the nations. (45: 16) 

 (۵) لِیَمِیزَ اللَّهُ الْخَبِیثَ مِنَ الطَّیِّبِ وَیَجْعَلَ الْخَبِیثَ بَعْضَهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَیَرْکُمَهُ جَمِیعًا فَیَجْعَلَهُ فِی جَهَنَّمَ أُولَٰئِکَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ ﴿الأنفال: ٣٧﴾   

In order that Allah may separate the impure from the pure, put the impure, one on another, heap them together, and cast them into Hell. They will be the ones to have lost. (8: 37) 

 (۶) وَلَقَدْ کَرَّمْنَا بَنِی آدَمَ وَحَمَلْنَاهُمْ فِی الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّیِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ کَثِیرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِیلًا ﴿الإسراء: ٧٠﴾   

We have honoured the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favours, above a great part of our creation. (17: 70) 

 (۷) وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَیْکُمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْکُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَىٰ کُلُوا مِن طَیِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاکُمْ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَٰکِن کَانُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ یَظْلِمُونَ ﴿البقرة: ٥٧﴾   

And We gave you the shade of clouds and sent down to you Manna and quails, saying: "Eat of the good things We have provided for you:" (But they rebelled); to us they did no harm, but they harmed their own souls. (2: 57) 

 (۸) وَاذْکُرُوا إِذْ أَنتُمْ قَلِیلٌ مُّسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِی الْأَرْضِ تَخَافُونَ أَن یَتَخَطَّفَکُمُ النَّاسُ فَآوَاکُمْ وَأَیَّدَکُم بِنَصْرِهِ وَرَزَقَکُم مِّنَ الطَّیِّبَاتِ لَعَلَّکُمْ تَشْکُرُونَ ﴿الأنفال: ٢٦﴾   

Call to mind when ye were a small (band), despised through the land, and afraid that men might despoil and kidnap you; But He provided a safe asylum for you, strengthened you with His aid, and gave you Good things for sustenance: that ye might be grateful. (8: 26) 

 (۹) وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَکُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِکُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَجَعَلَ لَکُم مِّنْ أَزْوَاجِکُم بَنِینَ وَحَفَدَةً وَرَزَقَکُم مِّنَ الطَّیِّبَاتِ أَفَبِالْبَاطِلِ یُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَتِ اللَّهِ هُمْ یَکْفُرُونَ ﴿النحل: ٧٢﴾   

And Allah has made for you mates (and companions) of your own nature, and made for you, out of them, sons and daughters and grandchildren, and provided for you sustenance of the best: will they then believe in vain things, and be ungrateful for Allah's favours?- (16: 72) 

 (۱۰) اللَّهُ الَّذِی جَعَلَ لَکُمُ الْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَالسَّمَاءَ بِنَاءً وَصَوَّرَکُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَکُمْ وَرَزَقَکُم مِّنَ الطَّیِّبَاتِ ذَٰلِکُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّکُمْ فَتَبَارَکَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِینَ ﴿غافر: ٦٤﴾   

It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape- and made your shapes beautiful,- and has provided for you Sustenance, of things pure and good;- such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! (40: 64) 

 (۱۱) وَلَقَدْ بَوَّأْنَا بَنِی إِسْرَائِیلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدْقٍ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّیِّبَاتِ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوا حَتَّىٰ جَاءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ إِنَّ رَبَّکَ یَقْضِی بَیْنَهُمْ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَةِ فِیمَا کَانُوا فِیهِ یَخْتَلِفُونَ ﴿یونس: ٩٣﴾   

We settled the Children of Israel in a beautiful dwelling-place, and provided for them sustenance of the best: it was after knowledge had been granted to them, that they fell into schisms. Verily Allah will judge between them as to the schisms amongst them, on the Day of Judgment. (10: 93) 

 (۱۲) یَا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا أَنفِقُوا مِن طَیِّبَاتِ مَا کَسَبْتُمْ وَمِمَّا أَخْرَجْنَا لَکُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَلَا تَیَمَّمُوا الْخَبِیثَ مِنْهُ تُنفِقُونَ وَلَسْتُم بِآخِذِیهِ إِلَّا أَن تُغْمِضُوا فِیهِ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِیٌّ حَمِیدٌ ﴿البقرة: ٢٦٧﴾   

O ye who believe! Give of the good things which ye have (honourably) earned, and of the fruits of the earth which We have produced for you, and do not even aim at getting anything which is bad, in order that out of it ye may give away something, when ye yourselves would not receive it except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of all wants, and worthy of all praise. (2: 267) 

 (۱۳) مَّا کَانَ اللَّهُ لِیَذَرَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ عَلَىٰ مَا أَنتُمْ عَلَیْهِ حَتَّىٰ یَمِیزَ الْخَبِیثَ مِنَ الطَّیِّبِ وَمَا کَانَ اللَّهُ لِیُطْلِعَکُمْ عَلَى الْغَیْبِ وَلَٰکِنَّ اللَّهَ یَجْتَبِی مِن رُّسُلِهِ مَن یَشَاءُ فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَإِن تُؤْمِنُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَلَکُمْ أَجْرٌ عَظِیمٌ ﴿آل‌عمران: ١٧٩﴾   

Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which ye are now, until He separates what is evil from what is good nor will He disclose to you the secrets of the Unseen. But He chooses of His Messengers (For the purpose) whom He pleases. So believe in Allah. And His messengers: And if ye believe and do right, ye have a reward without measure. (3: 179) 

 (۱۴) وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمُ اثْنَتَیْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطًا أُمَمًا وَأَوْحَیْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ إِذِ اسْتَسْقَاهُ قَوْمُهُ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاکَ الْحَجَرَ فَانبَجَسَتْ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَیْنًا قَدْ عَلِمَ کُلُّ أُنَاسٍ مَّشْرَبَهُمْ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَیْهِمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْهِمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَىٰ کُلُوا مِن طَیِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاکُمْ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَٰکِن کَانُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ یَظْلِمُونَ ﴿الأعراف: ١٦٠﴾   

We divided them into twelve tribes or nations. We directed Moses by inspiration, when his (thirsty) people asked him for water: "Strike the rock with thy staff": out of it there gushed forth twelve springs: Each group knew its own place for water. We gave them the shade of clouds, and sent down to them manna and quails, (saying): "Eat of the good things We have provided for you": (but they rebelled); to Us they did no harm, but they harmed their own souls. (7: 160)

 (۱) وَلَکُمْ فِی الْقِصَاصِ حَیَاةٌ یَا أُولِی الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّکُمْ تَتَّقُونَ ﴿البقرة: ١٧٩﴾   

In the Law of Equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves. (2: 179) 

 (۲) قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِی وَنُسُکِی وَمَحْیَایَ وَمَمَاتِی لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِینَ ﴿الأنعام: ١٦٢﴾   

Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds: (6: 162) 

 (۳) الَّذِی خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَیَاةَ لِیَبْلُوَکُمْ أَیُّکُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا وَهُوَ الْعَزِیزُ الْغَفُورُ ﴿الملک: ٢﴾   

He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving;- (67: 2) 

 (۴) إِذًا لَّأَذَقْنَاکَ ضِعْفَ الْحَیَاةِ وَضِعْفَ الْمَمَاتِ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَکَ عَلَیْنَا نَصِیرًا ﴿الإسراء: ٧٥﴾   

In that case We should have made thee taste an equal portion (of punishment) in this life, and an equal portion in death: and moreover thou wouldst have found none to help thee against Us! (17: 75) 

 (۵) مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِّن ذَکَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْیِیَنَّهُ حَیَاةً طَیِّبَةً وَلَنَجْزِیَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا کَانُوا یَعْمَلُونَ ﴿النحل: ٩٧﴾   

Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions. (16: 97) 

 (۶) وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً لَّا یَخْلُقُونَ شَیْئًا وَهُمْ یُخْلَقُونَ وَلَا یَمْلِکُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا وَلَا یَمْلِکُونَ مَوْتًا وَلَا حَیَاةً وَلَا نُشُورًا ﴿الفرقان: ٣﴾   

Yet have they taken, besides him, gods that can create nothing but are themselves created; that have no control of hurt or good to themselves; nor can they control death nor life nor resurrection. (25: 3) 

 (۷) وَمِنْ آیَاتِهِ أَنَّکَ تَرَى الْأَرْضَ خَاشِعَةً فَإِذَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْهَا الْمَاءَ اهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ إِنَّ الَّذِی أَحْیَاهَا لَمُحْیِی الْمَوْتَىٰ إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ کُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیرٌ ﴿فصلت: ٣٩﴾   

And among His Signs in this: thou seest the earth barren and desolate; but when We send down rain to it, it is stirred to life and yields increase. Truly, He Who gives life to the (dead) earth can surely give life to (men) who are dead. For He has power over all things. (41: 39) 

 (۸) أَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِینَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّیِّئَاتِ أَن نَّجْعَلَهُمْ کَالَّذِینَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَوَاءً مَّحْیَاهُمْ وَمَمَاتُهُمْ سَاءَ مَا یَحْکُمُونَ ﴿الجاثیة: ٢١﴾   

What! Do those who seek after evil ways think that We shall hold them equal with those who believe and do righteous deeds,- that equal will be their life and their death? Ill is the judgment that they make. (45: 21) 

 (۹) وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ أَحْرَصَ النَّاسِ عَلَىٰ حَیَاةٍ وَمِنَ الَّذِینَ أَشْرَکُوا یَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ یُعَمَّرُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحْزِحِهِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ أَن یُعَمَّرَ وَاللَّهُ بَصِیرٌ بِمَا یَعْمَلُونَ ﴿البقرة: ٩٦﴾   

Thou wilt indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life,-even more than the idolaters: Each one of them wishes He could be given a life of a thousand years: But the grant of such life will not save him from (due) punishment. For Allah sees well all that they do. (2: 96) 

 (۱۰) أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِینَ خَرَجُوا مِن دِیَارِهِمْ وَهُمْ أُلُوفٌ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ اللَّهُ مُوتُوا ثُمَّ أَحْیَاهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَٰکِنَّ أَکْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا یَشْکُرُونَ ﴿البقرة: ٢٤٣﴾   

Didst thou not Turn by vision to those who abandoned their homes, though they were thousands (In number), for fear of death? Allah said to them: "Die": Then He restored them to life. For Allah is full of bounty to mankind, but Most of them are ungrateful. (2: 243) 

 (۱۱) قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَکَ فِی الْحَیَاةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ وَإِنَّ لَکَ مَوْعِدًا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُ وَانظُرْ إِلَىٰ إِلَٰهِکَ الَّذِی ظَلْتَ عَلَیْهِ عَاکِفًا لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُ فِی الْیَمِّ نَسْفًا ﴿طه: ٩٧﴾   

(Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!" (20: 97) 

 (۱۲) مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِکَ کَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِی إِسْرَائِیلَ أَنَّهُ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًا بِغَیْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِی الْأَرْضِ فَکَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِیعًا وَمَنْ أَحْیَاهَا فَکَأَنَّمَا أَحْیَا النَّاسَ جَمِیعًا وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالْبَیِّنَاتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ کَثِیرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِکَ فِی الْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ ﴿المائدة: ٣٢﴾   

On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. (5: 32)

 (۱) مَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْکَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقَىٰ ﴿طه: ٢﴾   

We have not sent down the Qur'an to thee to be (an occasion) for thy distress, (20: 2) 

 (۲) إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَیْکَ الْقُرْآنَ تَنزِیلًا ﴿الانسان: ٢٣﴾   

It is We Who have sent down the Qur'an to thee by stages. (76: 23) 

 (۳) وَلَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَا إِلَیْکَ آیَاتٍ بَیِّنَاتٍ وَمَا یَکْفُرُ بِهَا إِلَّا الْفَاسِقُونَ ﴿البقرة: ٩٩﴾   

We have sent down to thee Manifest Signs (ayat); and none reject them but those who are perverse. (2: 99) 

 (۴) إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا إِلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ فَاعْبُدِ اللَّهَ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُ الدِّینَ ﴿الزمر: ٢﴾   

Verily it is We Who have revealed the Book to thee in Truth: so serve Allah, offering Him sincere devotion. (39: 2) 

 (۵) نَزَّلَ عَلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَیْنَ یَدَیْهِ وَأَنزَلَ التَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنجِیلَ ﴿آل‌عمران: ٣﴾   

It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong). (3: 3) 

 (۶) وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ إِلَّا لِتُبَیِّنَ لَهُمُ الَّذِی اخْتَلَفُوا فِیهِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ یُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿النحل: ٦٤﴾   

And We sent down the Book to thee for the express purpose, that thou shouldst make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe. (16: 64) 

 (۷) إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا إِلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ لِتَحْکُمَ بَیْنَ النَّاسِ بِمَا أَرَاکَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَکُن لِّلْخَائِنِینَ خَصِیمًا ﴿النساء: ١٠٥﴾   

We have sent down to thee the Book in truth, that thou mightest judge between men, as guided by Allah: so be not (used) as an advocate by those who betray their trust; (4: 105) 

 (۸) وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَیْکَ کِتَابًا فِی قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَیْدِیهِمْ لَقَالَ الَّذِینَ کَفَرُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِینٌ ﴿الأنعام: ٧﴾   

If We had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment, so that they could touch it with their hands, the Unbelievers would have been sure to say: "This is nothing but obvious magic!" (6: 7) 

 (۹) أَوَلَمْ یَکْفِهِمْ أَنَّا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ یُتْلَىٰ عَلَیْهِمْ إِنَّ فِی ذَٰلِکَ لَرَحْمَةً وَذِکْرَىٰ لِقَوْمٍ یُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿العنکبوت: ٥١﴾   

And is it not enough for them that we have sent down to thee the Book which is rehearsed to them? Verily, in it is Mercy and a Reminder to those who believe. (29: 51) 

 (۱۰) إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ لِلنَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ فَمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ فَلِنَفْسِهِ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا یَضِلُّ عَلَیْهَا وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَیْهِم بِوَکِیلٍ ﴿الزمر: ٤١﴾   

Verily We have revealed the Book to thee in Truth, for (instructing) mankind. He, then, that receives guidance benefits his own soul: but he that strays injures his own soul. Nor art thou set over them to dispose of their affairs. (39: 41) 

 (۱۱) وَکَذَٰلِکَ أَنزَلْنَا إِلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ فَالَّذِینَ آتَیْنَاهُمُ الْکِتَابَ یُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَمِنْ هَٰؤُلَاءِ مَن یُؤْمِنُ بِهِ وَمَا یَجْحَدُ بِآیَاتِنَا إِلَّا الْکَافِرُونَ ﴿العنکبوت: ٤٧﴾   

And thus (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein, as also do some of these (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject our signs. (29: 47) 

 (۱۲) وَیَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِی کُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِیدًا عَلَیْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَجِئْنَا بِکَ شَهِیدًا عَلَىٰ هَٰؤُلَاءِ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ تِبْیَانًا لِّکُلِّ شَیْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِینَ ﴿النحل: ٨٩﴾   

One day We shall raise from all Peoples a witness against them, from amongst themselves: and We shall bring thee as a witness against these (thy people): and We have sent down to thee the Book explaining all things, a Guide, a Mercy, and Glad Tidings to Muslims. (16: 89) 

 (۱۳) هُوَ الَّذِی أَنزَلَ عَلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ مِنْهُ آیَاتٌ مُّحْکَمَاتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ الْکِتَابِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ فَأَمَّا الَّذِینَ فِی قُلُوبِهِمْ زَیْغٌ فَیَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ ابْتِغَاءَ الْفِتْنَةِ وَابْتِغَاءَ تَأْوِیلِهِ وَمَا یَعْلَمُ تَأْوِیلَهُ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَالرَّاسِخُونَ فِی الْعِلْمِ یَقُولُونَ آمَنَّا بِهِ کُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ رَبِّنَا وَمَا یَذَّکَّرُ إِلَّا أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ ﴿آل‌عمران: ٧﴾   

He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding. (3: 7) 

 (۱۴) وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَیْکَ الْکِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَیْنَ یَدَیْهِ مِنَ الْکِتَابِ وَمُهَیْمِنًا عَلَیْهِ فَاحْکُم بَیْنَهُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَکَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ لِکُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنکُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَکُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَٰکِن لِّیَبْلُوَکُمْ فِی مَا آتَاکُمْ فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَیْرَاتِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُکُمْ جَمِیعًا فَیُنَبِّئُکُم بِمَا کُنتُمْ فِیهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ ﴿المائدة: ٤٨﴾   

To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute; (5: 48)
